With strong influences in Reggae, Jazz and pop, Ruia is a gifted bilingual singer and songwriter, well known for a stage presence that toys with both his contemporary musical roots as well as his traditional Maori beginnings.
Like many Te Reo artists, Ruia has enjoyed a freedom afforded by a strong family and cultural background and continues to create music that tests the boundaries and explores possibilities, evident in his album, Tekau Ma Rua:Rua Tekau Ma.
